From the moment you step into the grand library with its coffered ceilings and floor-to-ceiling wood paneling, you know this is a property that demands the highest level of care. The Library: A Room Like No Other

The main living space is a true gentleman's library. Rich cherry wood paneling covers the walls from floor to ceiling, framing a stone fireplace with a custom wood mantel. Above, a coffered ceiling with recessed lighting adds depth and warmth to the room. Walls of leaded glass windows wrap around two sides, filling the space with soft natural light and views of the wooded property.

Our team started with the coffered ceiling, dusting each recessed panel and the trim around every light fixture. Cherry wood is beautiful but it shows dust and fingerprints easily, so we used a premium wood cleaner and soft microfiber cloths to wipe down every panel, shelf, and built-in cabinet. The fireplace surround was cleaned carefully — the stone hearth was brushed and wiped, and the mantel was dusted and polished.

The leaded glass windows were cleaned pane by pane, both the glass and the lead caming between them. This kind of window requires a gentle touch because the lead is soft and the glass panels are delicate. We also cleaned all the window sills and hardware.

The cherry hardwood floors were swept, vacuumed along every edge and under the leather furniture, and then cleaned with a wood-safe solution that brought out the deep, warm tone of the wood. The result was a mirror-like shine that matched the elegance of the room.

The Master Suite: Elegant and Restful

Upstairs, the master bedroom is a retreat all on its own. A mahogany four-poster bed sits at the center, dressed in silk damask bedding in shades of blue and gold. A French settee with carved wood details sits at the foot of the bed. Floor-to-ceiling windows with navy silk draperies frame views of the surrounding landscape, and a tray ceiling with crown molding adds a finishing touch.

We vacuumed the plush patterned carpet throughout the room, paying special attention to the areas under and around the furniture. The four-poster bed frame was dusted and polished, including each carved finial at the top. The settee was vacuumed and its wood frame was cleaned and conditioned.

The silk draperies were gently brushed to remove surface dust. We cleaned every window, the crown molding, and the tray ceiling trim. The oil painting on the wall was carefully dusted with a soft brush — artwork in a home like this deserves respect, not a spray bottle.
